The Paris 2024 Olympics isn’t just about medals 🏅—it’s about building a lasting legacy for young people. Organizers are scaling up opportunities for kids to embrace climbing, aiming to transform the city’s sports culture long after the Games end.

Why Kids Are Natural Climbers

At Climb-Up, France’s largest indoor climbing gym, staff say children as young as five are perfect candidates for the sport. \"They’re lighter, fearless, and problem-solve like pros,\" says Cathy Bremaud, the gym’s communications director. 🧒💡 \"Adults overthink—kids just climb!\"

Olympic Climbing 2.0

Since its Tokyo 2020 debut, climbing has evolved: Paris will split speed climbing into its own adrenaline-packed event 🚀, while lead climbing and bouldering remain a combined test of strategy and strength. No ropes? No problem! Bouldering’s low walls (4.5m max) make it ideal for beginners.

From Games to Community

The Olympic climbing venue will become a permanent local facility post-2024, addressing Paris’s shortage of quality climbing spaces. Simon Brusco, Climb-Up’s development manager, notes: \"Young Parisians crave something fresh—this is their chance to reach new heights.\" 🌆

With 3 million French kids under five, the Olympic spotlight could turn climbing into the next big thing—one tiny grip at a time. 🤘
