The WTT Champions Macao is off to an exciting start as four Chinese table tennis stars secured their first-round victories on Monday. Sun Yingsha, Wang Manyu, Liang Jingkun, and Lin Gaoyuan showcased their top-tier skills, setting the stage for a thrilling tournament ahead.
In the women's singles event, Sun Yingsha faced a tough battle against South Korea's Jeon Ji-hee. After clinching the first two games by narrow margins (14-12, 12-10), Sun found her rhythm, delivering a commanding 11-1 win in the third game to seal the match. \"I think Jeon played well today,\" Sun said. \"It's true that I haven't trained in a systematic way since the 2024 Paris Olympic Games ended, but that's something professional players have to get used to because competitions follow each other closely.\"
Wang Manyu also had a strong performance, defeating Romania's Bernadette Szocs with scores of 11-7, 11-4, 5-11, 11-9 to advance to the second round. Meanwhile, on the men's side, Liang Jingkun swept Canada's Edward Ly 11-3, 11-4, 11-6, and Lin Gaoyuan overcame Egypt's Omar Assar with an 11-6, 11-6, 11-8 victory.
\"I took some days off after the Olympics and returned to regular training sessions recently,\" Liang remarked. \"It's very helpful and I felt good in the match.\"
With these impressive wins, Chinese paddlers are demonstrating their dominance and promising an exciting continuation for fans around the world. Stay tuned for more updates from the WTT Champions Macao!
