China’s 12th National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities is revving up for a vibrant celebration! A symbolic flame-lighting ceremony in Sanya, Hainan Province, marked the final countdown to the mega-event, blending sports, culture, and unity among ethnic groups.
Torchbearers, including marine expert Xu Hongzhou, ignited the relay amid roaring cheers, channeling the spirit of tradition. The flames—gathered from historic regions—symbolize harmony in China’s diverse cultural tapestry.
From November 22–30, over 6,960 athletes will compete in 18 events, while performers dazzle in 170 cultural showcases. With 8,600 volunteers prepped, Sanya’s gearing up for a spectacle mixing ancient traditions and modern energy.
‘This isn’t just about winning; it’s about sharing our heritage,’ said a local organizer. Think Olympics meets cultural festival—with a dash of Hainan’s tropical vibes!
