Manchester United kicked off their Europa League campaign with an exhilarating 3-2 victory over Bodo/Glimt on Thursday, marking their first win under new manager Ruben Amorim.
The match got off to a dramatic start as United took the lead within the first minute when keeper Nikita Haikin failed to handle a back pass, allowing Alejandro Garnacho to tap in the opening goal.
Bodo/Glimt responded swiftly, scoring twice through Hakon Evjen and Philip Zinckernagel's impressive strikes, leaving United trailing 2-1.
Just before halftime, United leveled the score thanks to Noussair Mazraoui's precise pass to Rasmus Hojlund, who fired the ball past Andre Onana to make it 2-2.
In the second half, United regained the lead when Hojlund converted Manuel Ugarte's pass, securing the 3-2 win. Mason Mount had earlier hit the crossbar, keeping the tension high.
Andre Onana's stellar goalkeeping in the final minutes ensured United's victory, lifting them to 12th in the standings with nine points, while Bodo/Glimt dropped to 17th with seven points.
\"Of course, I see what everybody sees, good moments, difficult moments,\" Amorim told TNT Sports. \"The lads did a great job. They ran, they pressed, they tried to do the things we have worked on, and we won.\"
Amorim, whose first game was a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town on November 24, expressed his gratitude to the fans. \"Half of the stadium doesn't know me, I came from Portugal and I did nothing for this club. Yet the way they make me feel at home is special. I will keep this to the end of my career.\"
