Katharina Schmid Soars to Victory in World Cup Opener! 🏆⛷️

Germany's seven-time world champion Katharina Schmid continued her exceptional start to the 2024/25 FIS Ski Jumping World Cup season. The 28-year-old soared to the top of the podium in the first day's women's normal hill individual competition at Snow Ruyi hill in Zhangjiakou. 🌨️✨

Each athlete had two jumps, with the top 30 from the first jump advancing to the second. After two intense rounds, the two-time Olympic silver medalist clinched the championship with a total score of 237.0 points. This victory marks her third individual World Cup podium finish of the season, following her impressive first and second-place finishes in Lillehammer, Norway. With this win, Schmid now boasts a total of 17 individual World Cup victories, solidifying her status as one of the most decorated skiers in the history of ski jumping. 🥇🏅
