Chinese tennis sensation Zheng Qinwen just scored a major win off the court – claiming the WTA’s Singles Fan Favorite award! The 22-year-old’s epic 2024 season won hearts globally, with fans voting en masse to cement her status as one of tennis’ brightest young stars.
Zheng served up history this year: She smashed her way to a Grand Slam final debut at the Australian Open , bagged Olympic gold in Paris (a first for Chinese tennis!), and clinched titles in Palermo and Tokyo. Not bad for someone who only turned pro five years ago!
“This award means everything – it’s fuel for my next chapter,” Zheng shared on social media, thanking fans for their support. Her rise to World No. 5 makes her only the second Chinese player after legend Li Na to crack the Top 10 – and Gen Z is here for it.
With a WTA Finals runner-up finish capping her year, Zheng’s blend of power and grace is redefining Asian representation in tennis. Game, set, match – and the crowd goes wild!
