China's freestyle skiing superstar Gu Ailing is rewriting the record books—again. The 21-year-old phenom claimed her 17th career victory at the Freestyle Skiing Halfpipe World Cup in Colorado's Copper Mountain this weekend, proving she's still the one to beat.
Gu, who dominated the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, led from the start after topping the prelims. Her first-run score of 90.50 held firm despite nail-biting slips in later attempts. Chinese athletes Li Fanghui (5th) and Chen Zihan (8th) also showcased rising talent in the competition.
Britain's Zoe Atkins came painfully close to dethroning Gu, scoring 89.75 in her final run. But Gu's 14th straight halfpipe gold cements her GOAT status.
\"This sport keeps evolving,\" Gu told reporters post-event, \"but my drive? That’s only getting stronger.\"
