Macao SAR is riding high after its historic participation in the 15th National Games, with Sports Development Director Chao Kuok Wai revealing ambitious plans to transform the region into a sports powerhouse. 🏋️♀️
"This year's Games were a game-changer," Chao told CGTN, noting Macao's 600-member delegation – its largest ever – competed in 23 sports and 14 mass events. The region also hosted 100 public fitness activities (up 64% from 2024!) and offered free access to all sports facilities during the event.
But the real play? Sustaining the momentum. 🔥 Plans include pop-up sports venues, facility upgrades, and year-round community events. "We want every resident catching the fitness bug," Chao said, dropping emojis of flexed arms and racing flags.
Cultural preservation scores big too: Macao's 57 sports associations now get boosted funding, while new projects like the youth martial arts school 🥋 and international dragon boat festival 🐉 aim to keep traditions alive. "Our size is no limit – we're building champions and community," Chao added.
