Olympic Legend Wu Dajing Retires, Shifts to Coaching 🏅

Two-time Olympic gold medalist Wu Dajing, the ⚡"Lightning Blade"⚡ of short track speed skating, officially closed his competitive career this week. The 31-year-old announced his retirement quietly on Tuesday (January 6), choosing reflection over fanfare as he transitions to mentoring China's next generation of ice athletes.

Wu made history at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics with his iconic 500m gold – China's only title that year. Four years later, he electrified home crowds by securing mixed relay gold at the Beijing 2022 Games. ❄️ "I wanted to leave everything on the ice for our nation," he later told state media.

Though initially planning to retire after Beijing, Wu continued through 2024's National Winter Games. Now based in Jilin province, he's traded his racing suit for a coach's whistle while lecturing at Jilin University's Physical Education College. 🎓

Fans flooded social media with tributes, with one viral post reading: "From PyeongChang's breakthrough to Beijing's glory – thanks for the adrenaline rush!" 🥇
