FISU Chief Praises China’s Winter Sports Boom Ahead of 2027 Universiade 🏂❄️

International University Sports Federation (FISU) President Leonz Eder has become one of 2026's most enthusiastic cheerleaders for winter sports development in China, calling the country's progress "a blueprint for global growth" during exclusive comments to CGTN Sports Scene.

Speaking from the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, where student-athletes are making waves 🏅, Eder highlighted Changchun's preparations for the 2027 Winter World University Games: "Having hosted the 2007 Asian Winter Games, this city already understands how to turn snow into magic!"

The FISU leader specifically praised China's post-2022 Winter Olympics legacy, noting: "From Beijing's high-tech venues to new ski resorts nationwide, they've created a winter sports culture that's both accessible and aspirational."

With the Lunar New Year approaching 🧧, Eder sent warm wishes to Chinese residents while playfully adding: "After seeing Changchun's plans, I might need to borrow some local speed skates to keep up!"
