Canadian freestyle skier Megan Oldham, 24, is living her Olympic dream this February after winning gold and bronze at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Games. In an exclusive interview, she told CGTN how she conquered heavy snowfall, fierce competition, and her own expectations to make history.
"It's crazy – I just wanted one medal," Oldham confessed about her double podium finish. Her golden moment came in women's big air, where a first-run score of 91.25 set the pace. "Visualizing tricks and staying warm during the 90-minute snow delay was key," she revealed.
The competition heated up with China's snow sports icon Gu Ailing taking silver. Oldham praised her rival: "Eileen's always pulling new tricks – you never know what she'll do. Today I had to bring my A-game just to stand beside her."
Both athletes are driving global interest in women's freestyle skiing, with Oldham noting: "Having Eileen bring eyes to our sport? That's how we get more girls sending it on the slopes!"
