AU & TikTok Team Up to Boost Digital Safety for African Youth 🌍📱

The African Union (AU) and TikTok are joining forces to launch the #SaferTogether campaign, a dynamic initiative aimed at equipping African youth, parents, and educators with tools to navigate the digital world safely. Announced at the TikTok Safer Internet Summit in Ghana, the collaboration merges the AU’s grassroots reach with TikTok’s viral platform to tackle online risks and mental well-being. 🌟

Prudence Ngwenya, AU’s Women, Gender and Youth Director, highlighted the campaign’s alignment with the continental bloc’s One Million Next Level Initiative, which aims to empower 300 million young Africans by 2030 through education, jobs, and health. 🎯 \"Access to the internet boosts connectivity and skills,\" Ngwenya said, \"but a safe online environment is non-negotiable.\"

The campaign will roll out in-app educational videos, hashtag challenges, and tips from top creators to promote digital literacy—think \"EduTok\" meets safety. 🚀 Whether it’s avoiding scams or managing screen time, TikTok’s 55-million-strong African user base will get bite-sized, engaging content to stay savvy online.
