FAST Telescope Opens 2024 Global Applications for Free Observation Projects 🚀🔭

The Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST), located in a naturally deep and round karst depression in southwest China's Guizhou Province, is inviting researchers from around the world to apply for free observation projects in 2024. 🌍✨

As the world's largest single-dish and most sensitive radio telescope, FAST has been a beacon for astronomical discoveries since it began operations in January 2020. With over 5,000 hours of celestial observations each year, FAST continues to push the boundaries of our understanding of the universe.

Currently, FAST is engaged in several scientific missions, including pulsar searches, pulsar timing surveys, neutral hydrogen surveys, and the study of fast radio bursts. Thanks to its ultra-high sensitivity, FAST has observed more than 890 pulsars to date, contributing significantly to the field of radio astronomy.

Since March 31, 2021, FAST has received applications from 15 countries and has approved nearly 900 hours of observation access for foreign research teams. This year, FAST is opening its doors wider by accepting global applications from August 2024 to July 2025. 🗓️ The deadline for submissions is May 15, 2024, at 16:00 UT.

Researchers and astronomy enthusiasts around the globe are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to collaborate with one of the most advanced telescopes in the world. Whether you're a seasoned scientist or a passionate student, FAST offers a unique platform to explore and contribute to groundbreaking astronomical research.
