Samsung has reclaimed the top spot from Apple as the world's leading smartphone maker in the first quarter of 2024, according to data from the International Data Corporation (IDC).
Apple experienced a 10% drop in iPhone shipments during Q1, a decline attributed to fierce competition from Android manufacturers striving for market dominance. This downturn follows Apple’s strong performance in the December quarter when it briefly surpassed Samsung.
Currently holding a 17.3% market share, Apple slips to the second position, while Chinese brands like Huawei are steadily increasing their presence in the global market.
Xiaomi, one of China's premier smartphone brands, secured the third spot with a 14.1% market share in Q1.
South Korea’s Samsung has been riding high, especially after launching its latest Galaxy S24 series earlier this year, shipping over 60 million phones in the period.
