China has unveiled its first 12,000-cubic-meter liquefied natural gas (LNG) refueling vessel, marking a major leap in sustainable energy infrastructure. Dubbed “Haiyang Shiyou 302,” this engineering marvel is now operational in Qidong City, Jiangsu Province, and promises to shake up global green shipping.
The vessel—longer than a soccer field and equipped with foldable masts to navigate the Yangtze River—boasts eco-friendly electric power systems and dual tanks towering over 20 meters. It can supply enough LNG to power 480,000 households for a month!
“This vessel will supercharge China’s port competitiveness while supporting greener global shipping,” said Huang Guoliang, deputy chief engineer at CNOOC Energy Development. The ship can refuel foreign cargo vessels, slashing emissions and aligning with global climate goals.
With its river-sea versatility and innovative design, the Haiyang Shiyou 302 is more than a ship—it’s a floating blueprint for a cleaner energy future.
