China’s Chang’e-6 Probe Set to Unlock Moon’s Far Side Mysteries 🚀🌕

China's Chang'e-6 Probe Set to Unlock Moon's Far Side Mysteries 🚀🌕

Get ready, space enthusiasts! 🌌 This Friday afternoon, between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m., China is set to launch its groundbreaking Chang'e-6 lunar probe, with the prime launch window at 5:27 p.m., according to the China National Space Administration (CNSA).

The Chang'e-6 mission is making history as the first ever to collect and return samples from the mysterious far side of the moon. 🌓 This ambitious endeavor will use the powerful Long March-5 Y8 carrier rocket, fueled with liquid hydrogen and oxygen cryogenic propellant, ensuring a successful journey.

Lu Yuntong from the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation shared details about the 11-phase mission plan. \"The probe will ride the Long March-5 Y8 rocket into orbit and head towards the moon. Once it reaches lunar vicinity, we'll slow down to enter lunar orbit. Then, the lander and ascender duo will touch down on the moon's far side,\" Lu explained.

After collecting samples, the ascender will lift off, dock with the orbiter-returner, transfer the precious lunar samples, and make the epic journey back to Earth. The returner will re-enter our atmosphere and safely land at the designated site in Siziwang Banner. 🌍

Building on the success of Chang'e-5, Chang'e-6 will drill and scoop lunar surface and subsurface samples from different depths, all while conducting scientific exploration in one of the moon's most intriguing regions: the South Pole-Aitken basin. 🛰️ This basin is not only one of the oldest and largest craters on the moon but also holds immense scientific value.

Hu Zhenyu, leading the engineering team, emphasized the mission's significance: \"Chang'e-6 will help us understand the moon's origin, its evolution, planetary development, and the origins of our Solar System. It's a giant leap for lunar science and human knowledge!\" 🚀✨
