China to Digitize Vehicle Registration Licenses Nationwide by Year-End 🚗💻

Exciting news for drivers across China! Starting this July, the country will begin piloting the digitization of motor vehicle registration licenses in 60 cities, including major hubs like Beijing and Tianjin.

🚀 This initiative aims to enhance traffic management services and streamline the driving experience. By the end of the year, the digitization process will roll out nationwide, ensuring that all drivers can access their vehicle registration information digitally.

Under current Chinese law, drivers are required to carry both their driving licenses and vehicle registration certificates while on the road. This move towards digitalization follows the successful implementation of electronic motor vehicle annual inspection marks and driving licenses, with 1.475 billion electronic inspection marks and 250 million electronic driving licenses already in circulation.

As of May 2024, China boasts a staggering 440 million motor vehicles and 530 million drivers, making it a global leader in both vehicle numbers and driver population. 🏆

Wang Qiang, director of the MPS Traffic Management Bureau, highlighted the significant impact of recent reforms: \"In recent years, more than 100 reform measures have been introduced, resulting in cost reductions exceeding 100 billion yuan (about $14 billion).\" 💰

To support these advancements, the Ministry of Public Security has launched a unified mobile app called Jiaoguan 12123, or Traffic Management 12123. This app offers 35 types of traffic-related services and currently boasts 540 million registered users, making traffic management more accessible and efficient for everyone on the go. 📱✨

With these digital upgrades, China continues to lead the way in modernizing its transportation infrastructure, ensuring a smoother and more connected driving experience for millions.
