Fengyun-3F Meteorological Satellite Officially Operational

Exciting news from the Chinese mainland! The Fengyun-3F meteorological satellite has officially started its operational service on Monday, as announced by the China Meteorological Administration (CMA).
Launched on August 3, 2023, from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China, Fengyun-3F is the seventh satellite of the Fengyun-3 series and the third sun-synchronous morning orbit satellite in the Fengyun series.
After beginning in-orbit testing on October 23, 2023, the satellite is now fully equipped with 10 operational instruments. These tools provide full-spectrum, quantitative observations, allowing Fengyun-3F to monitor the global atmosphere and surface environment with unprecedented precision.
One of the satellite's key strengths is its ability to significantly enhance the accuracy of critical observation benchmarks, including the Earth's radiation balance. This means more reliable weather forecasts and a better understanding of our planet's climate dynamics.
With Fengyun-3F now operational, meteorologists and researchers around the world can look forward to improved data that supports everything from daily weather predictions to long-term climate studies.
