China now holds 378,000 active AI invention patents as of 2023, according to the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA). That’s a jaw-dropping 40% year-on-year growth—1.4x faster than the global average! 🚨

Digital Economy Powers Up 💡

AI is turbocharging China’s digital economy, which contributed 10% of the country’s GDP last year. Inventions in core digital sectors, like AI and tech manufacturing, made up 45% of all approved patents nationwide. 📈 'Technological innovations are thriving,' said CNIPA official Ge Shu, noting a 21% average annual growth in digital patents over five years.

Domestic & Global Players Unite 🤝

Over 155,000 Chinese companies now hold digital economy patents—up 31,000 from 2022. Foreign firms are also doubling down, with patents from 93 countries and regions active in China’s digital sectors. 🌍 Digital product manufacturing alone accounts for 61.8% of overseas-held patents.
