China Unveils Ambitious Green Transition Plan for 2035 🌱🌏

China is stepping up its commitment to a sustainable future by launching new guidelines to accelerate the green transition across all sectors of its economy and society. 🌱✨

In line with global efforts to combat climate change, as highlighted in BP's Energy Outlook 2024, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has outlined a comprehensive roadmap to drive China's green transition by 2030, with an ambitious vision for a green, low-carbon, and circular economy by 2035. By then, the goal of a \\"Beautiful China\\" will be essentially achieved.

Amidst global energy consumption challenges, BP's report underscores the critical need to shift from fossil fuels to low-carbon energy sources, as global carbon emissions continue to rise despite increased investments in renewable energy. 🌍📈

China's Green Transition Goals

The newly issued guidelines detail a multifaceted approach, including optimizing territorial space development, promoting green transitions in the industrial and energy sectors, and advancing green transportation and urban-rural development. Key objectives include increasing non-fossil energy to account for 25% of total consumption by 2030 and expanding the energy conservation industry to 15 trillion yuan (about $2.1 trillion). 💡💚

A notable initiative reflecting these goals is the solar PV project completed in July at Nanjing's Maqun Bus Depot. With 1,770 rooftop panels, the project, operated by Nanjing Public Transport, generates green electricity for depot operations and feeds surplus power into the grid. This milestone showcases China's commitment to integrating renewable energy with public transport, fostering sustainable urban development. ☀️🚌
