Monkey King Hits the Slopes (and the Ice!) 🐒❄️

Who said legends can’t have a little winter fun? 🌨️ Residents of Tianjin, China, reimagined classic characters from the 16th-century novel Journey to the West as ski-slope adventurers—and even the mighty Monkey King couldn’t escape a few hilarious tumbles! 🎿

The mythical hero, famed for his cloud-somersaults and combat skills, traded his golden staff for skis during a local winter festival. Videos of the costumed performers slipping and sliding—all in good humor—have gone viral, blending ancient folklore with modern-day snow culture. ❄️

📖 Fun fact: Journey to the West is one of China’s Four Great Classical Novels, packed with deities, demons, and epic quests. But this time, the quest was staying upright on ice! 😂

Residents told reporters they wanted to 'make mythology relatable' while showcasing Tianjin’s vibrant community spirit. After all, if even Sun Wukong (the Monkey King) can laugh at a fall, why can’t we? 🤷♂️✨
