A dazzling 200-meter-long dragon lantern illuminated Beijing’s Shichahai shopping district this week, glowing under the city’s first snowfall of the Year of the Dragon. The vibrant installation, winding past historic lakes and bustling streets, cast fiery reflections on the water, creating a scene straight out of a winter fairy tale.
Despite sub-zero temperatures, locals bundled up in cozy layers to snap photos, sip hot drinks, and soak in the festive atmosphere. ‘It feels magical—like the dragon is bringing luck right to our doorstep,’ said Li Wei, a Beijing resident visiting with family.
The lantern’s debut aligns with Lunar New Year celebrations, blending tradition with modern urban energy. As snowflakes danced around its shimmering scales, the spectacle became a symbol of resilience and joy amid winter’s chill.
