Wild Pere David’s Deer Thrive in Jiangsu Wetlands 🌿🦌

As autumn paints golden hues across Yancheng’s wetlands in Jiangsu Province, an ecological success story is unfolding. Herds of wild Pere David’s deer – once nearly extinct – now roam freely through the Tiaozini Wetlands, their antlers silhouetted against skies filled with migratory birds. 🦌✨

This biodiversity hotspot sits along the East Asian–Australasian Flyway, a superhighway for over 50 million birds annually. From spoon-billed sandpipers to red-crowned cranes, feathered travelers rest here during their marathon journeys from Siberia to Australia. 🕊️🌏

Local conservationists credit wetland restoration efforts for the rebound. "Seeing deer calves born in the wild gives us hope," says researcher Li Wei, noting the population has doubled since 2020. The area’s mix of tidal flats and grasslands creates a perfect buffet for both deer and birds – think of it as nature’s 24/7 diner! 🍃🐾
