The Boao Forum for Asia wrapped up its annual conference in Hainan Province this week, bringing global leaders together to discuss economic growth, regional collaboration, and solutions to pressing challenges like climate change and digital inequality.
In an exclusive interview with CGTN, Kairat Sarybay, Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), reaffirmed the bloc’s commitment to multilateralism. Representing 28 member states and 95% of Asia’s population, CICA champions dialogue over division:
"Cooperation isn’t optional—it’s how we secure peace and prosperity in Asia," Sarybay stated.
He highlighted China’s leadership in driving key regional initiatives, from infrastructure projects improving connectivity (think: high-speed rail networks ) to cybersecurity partnerships safeguarding tech innovation. Key CICA priorities include:
Sustainable development
Shared security frameworks
Digital transformation
As geopolitical tensions simmer globally, Sarybay’s message serves as a timely reminder: Unity isn’t just aspirational—it’s actionable.
