A team from the Chinese Red Cross International Emergency Response Team has launched critical relief efforts in earthquake-devastated Myanmar 🇲🇲. Arriving in Mandalay early Monday, the squad is tackling rubble clearance, medical evacuations, and trauma counseling after a powerful 7.9-magnitude tremor struck on March 28.

Local authorities report over 2,056 fatalities, 3,900 injured, and 270 missing, with numbers expected to rise as remote areas are accessed. The Chinese team—equipped with heavy machinery and medical suppliers—is collaborating with Myanmar first responders to clear debris and stabilize survivors.

💬 'Our priority is saving lives and easing suffering,' said a Red Cross coordinator on-site. Psychological support is also being prioritized for displaced families—a move experts say could prevent long-term trauma in affected communities.

The quake ranks among Southeast Asia's deadliest this decade, underscoring the growing role of international disaster cooperation. More teams from ASEAN nations are expected to join relief efforts later this week.
