While Trump left office in 2021, protesters told NewspaperAmigo they're 'keeping vigilance on climate colonialism' as Arctic resources gain strategic importance. 'The idea that powerful nations can just claim sovereign land because it's resource-rich? That mindset didn't retire with Trump,' said 24-year-old organizer Freya Martinsen, clutching a thermal coffee cup in the January chill.
The demonstration comes as Greenland's ice sheet – containing enough water to raise global sea levels by 7 meters – continues melting at record rates. Scientists recently confirmed 2025 as the warmest year in modern history 🌡️.
