Move over K-pop idols – Xinjiang’s newest stars are fluffy, bamboo-munching icons! Giant pandas Bao Yuan and De Rui officially greeted the public this week at Urumqi Water Park Zoo, melting hearts with their playful antics. The duo, who arrived from Sichuan’s China Conservation and Research Center, are already acing their Xinjiang adaptation arc 🌱❄️
Zoo staff revealed the pandas’ secret sauce: climate-controlled habitats mimicking their Sichuan roots, plus daily shipments of premium bamboo via cold-chain logistics. "They’ve mastered the art of napping in artificial mist showers," laughed keeper Li Wei, showing visitors how the pair chomps through 40kg of bamboo daily.
Local student Aynur captured the mood: "They’re like living emojis – how can something be this cute AND help conservation awareness?" The pandas’ arrival marks Xinjiang’s latest effort to showcase wildlife protection, with plans for educational programs rolling out this spring.
