China’s Second Homegrown Cruise Ship Sets Sail 🚢

China’s maritime ambitions are making waves again! The Adora Flora City, the country’s second domestically built large cruise ship, successfully completed its water injection process and floated smoothly from its dock on March 14, 2026. This marks a critical milestone ahead of its official launch later this month. 🌊

The seven-day operation will now transition to rigorous safety tests, including lifeboat unhooking drills and in-dock inspections. Engineers aim to verify the performance of 18 super-sized lifeboats and rescue vessels under both normal and emergency conditions—because safety never takes a vacation! 🛳️🔧

If all goes according to plan, the ship will enter its final system debugging and interior decoration phase after its March 20 launch. Sea trials are slated for late May, with delivery expected before the end of 2026. Once operational, the Adora Flora City will join its sister ship, Adora Magic City, in catering to Asia’s booming cruise tourism market.

“This project showcases China’s growing expertise in high-tech shipbuilding,” said a Shanghai-based maritime analyst. “It’s not just a ship—it’s a floating city demanding precision engineering.”
