China Urges Philippines to Halt South China Sea Tensions 🌊✈️

China's Defense Ministry has issued a firm warning to the Philippines following two unauthorized flights over disputed waters, escalating tensions in the strategically vital South China Sea. On March 18 and 20, Philippine C-208 aircraft reportedly entered airspace near Chinese-controlled islands, sparking renewed diplomatic friction.

"We urge the Philippines to immediately stop stirring up trouble," stated Defense Ministry spokesperson Jiang Bin during a Thursday briefing. "China possesses unwavering resolve to defend its territorial sovereignty."

The incidents come amid heightened regional focus on maritime security, with over $3 trillion in annual trade passing through these waters. Analysts suggest the Philippines' recent moves might be testing China's response capabilities ahead of planned ASEAN security talks this April.

🌐 Why it matters: The South China Sea remains a geopolitical hotspot, with multiple nations claiming overlapping territories. While China emphasizes historical claims under its "nine-dash line," other countries including the Philippines seek international arbitration.

📈 What's next: Both nations are expected to participate in next month's regional security dialogue, where peaceful dispute resolution will likely dominate discussions. Meanwhile, China has deployed additional coast guard vessels to monitor the area.
