Germany and Spain Join Lithuania to Investigate DHL Plane Crash in Vilnius

Investigators from Germany and Spain are teaming up with Lithuanian authorities to uncover the cause of a recent DHL plane crash in Vilnius. 🚨✈️

Laurynas Naujokaitis, director of the Lithuanian Justice Ministry's Transport Accident and Incident Investigation Division, announced on Monday that both countries are sending experts to assist in the probe. According to Naujokaitis, the German safety authority has appointed four investigators, and the Spanish side is contributing two experts. All are currently en route to Lithuania to join the investigation team, which is expected to delve into aviation safety aspects of the crash.

The tragic incident involved a Boeing 737-476 (SF) operated by Spanish airline Swift Air. While flying from Leipzig, Germany, on behalf of DHL, the plane crashed into a residential building near Vilnius airport. The disaster resulted in the loss of one pilot and injuries to three others. 😢

Naujokaitis emphasized that the investigation is comprehensive and may take at least a year to complete. He also mentioned that the U.S. aviation administration has been notified since the aircraft was manufactured in the United States, ensuring an all-encompassing examination of the factors leading to the crash.

As the international team collaborates to enhance aviation safety and prevent future tragedies, the global community watches closely, hoping for answers and improved safety measures in the skies.
