French Prime Minister Francois Bayrou has just rolled out his brand-new government lineup, and it’s bringing some familiar faces back into the spotlight! In a move that’s sure to shake things up, Bayrou has appointed two former prime ministers, Manuel Valls and Elisabeth Borne, to his cabinet.
The new government is sleek, downsized to 14 full ministries. Manuel Valls will take the reins as the Minister of Overseas Territories , while Elisabeth Borne steps into the role of Minister of National Education, Higher Education and Research

Not all changes, though! Three key ministers from Michel Barnier’s administration are sticking around: Bruno Retailleau remains as Interior Minister, Sebastian Lecornu continues as Minister of Armed Forces, and Jean-Noel Barrot holds the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs .

Looking ahead to the 2025 budget, Eric Lombard has been chosen as the new Minister of Economy, Finance, and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty . Bayrou shared his excitement about the new cabinet on his X account, describing it as “a collective of experience to reconcile and renew trust with all French people”
