Sudanese Army Secures Khartoum Airport in Major Strategic Shift 🇸🇩✈️

In a dramatic turn of events, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) announced Wednesday they've reclaimed control of Khartoum International Airport and other strategic locations from the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary group. This marks a significant shift in the power struggle that’s rocked Sudan’s capital since April 2023.

Airport Secured, Strongholds Fall

SAF Operations Commander Mohamed Abdul-Rahman Al-Belawi confirmed the takeover, calling it a “decisive step toward stabilizing Khartoum.” The airport, a critical logistical hub, had been under RSF control for over a year. Military sources told Xinhua the area is now “fully secured,” while SAF spokesperson Nabil Abdalla declared victory at Taiba Al-Hasanab camp—the RSF’s last major stronghold in the city.

What’s Next for Sudan?

With RSF forces reduced to “scattered small pockets,” analysts are cautiously optimistic about potential de-escalation. The SAF’s advance could reshape the conflict’s trajectory, but questions linger about long-term stability. As one Khartoum resident tweeted: “Will this bring peace, or just new battles?” 🌍⚔️
