China has officially challenged the United States at the World Trade Organization (WTO) after the U.S. announced a sharp increase in tariffs on Chinese imports. The move comes after Washington raised tariffs from 34% to 84%, sparking accusations of rule-breaking and "unilateral bullying" from Beijing.
Speaking on Wednesday, a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Commerce called the U.S. decision a serious violation of WTO principles, arguing the additional 50% hike compounds earlier disputes.
The lawsuit underscores China’s commitment to defending global trade rules and resisting "bullying tactics," the spokesperson added. As tensions rise, the case could reshape the future of international trade dynamics.
