China Pledges Stronger UN Ties to Boost Global Cooperation 🌏🤝

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng reaffirmed China's commitment to multilateralism during a high-profile meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres at the third UN Ocean Conference in Nice, France. The talks highlighted Beijing's push for stronger international collaboration amid rising global challenges.

🔹 'Unity Over Division': Han emphasized China's support for the UN's central role in global affairs, quoting President Xi Jinping: "The more turbulent the world becomes, the more we must defend the UN's authority." The VP stressed China's dedication to implementing the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in ocean conservation and climate action.

🔹 80 Years of Partnership: With 2025 marking the UN's 80th anniversary, Han proposed deepening cooperation through shared initiatives. Guterres praised China as a "key pillar of multilateralism," citing its leadership in green energy transitions and poverty reduction efforts.

🔹 One-China Consensus: Both leaders reaffirmed support for UN General Assembly Resolution 2758, which recognizes the People's Republic of China as the sole legitimate representative of China. Guterres confirmed the UN's "clear and firm" stance on this principle.

The meeting comes as coastal nations grapple with rising sea levels and marine biodiversity loss – challenges that China and the UN aim to address through joint scientific initiatives and policy frameworks.
