Cubans React to New US Travel Restrictions 🇨🇺✈️

Havana’s streets buzzed with mixed reactions this week as the U.S. enacted fresh travel restrictions targeting 19 countries, including Cuba. The move, effective June 9, tightens entry rules for Cuban nationals—a decision many locals saw coming but still felt deeply.

🚨 "It’s another barrier for families," said María, a Havana student hoping to visit relatives in Miami. "Every new rule makes reunions harder." Small business owners, reliant on tourism, also voiced concerns. "Fewer travelers mean fewer customers," shared Carlos, who runs a paladar (private restaurant).

While some Cubans criticized the policy as politically charged, others shrugged it off. "We’ve adapted before—we’ll adapt again," remarked retiree Luis. The Cuban government called the restrictions "harmful to people-to-people ties," urging dialogue over sanctions.

🌎 The update highlights ongoing tensions in U.S.-Cuba relations, leaving many young Cubans wondering: Will this deepen divides or spark new solutions?
