Gaza Faces ‘Man-Made Mass Starvation’ as Crisis Deepens: WHO 🚨

The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a dire warning, calling the hunger crisis in Gaza a "man-made mass starvation" fueled by blockades and aid restrictions. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated, "This is because of the blockade," during a virtual press conference, as humanitarian groups scramble to address surging malnutrition and deaths. 🌍

"Aid Can’t Reach Those in Need"

Over 100 aid agencies have raised alarms about Gaza’s collapsing food and medical supply chains. Despite Israel easing its full blockade in May, only a trickle of aid reaches 2.2 million residents. The WHO reports 10% of Gaza’s population now suffers moderate to severe malnutrition, with 5,100 children admitted to malnutrition programs in July alone. 🍼

Surging Hunger Deaths

Gaza health authorities confirmed 111 starvation-related deaths since the conflict began, including 21 children this year. "Centers for treating malnutrition are full," said WHO official Rik Peeperkorn, highlighting shortages of emergency supplies. Israel maintains its restrictions prevent aid diversion to militants, blaming Hamas for the crisis.

What’s Next?

With UN food deliveries stalled for nearly 80 days earlier this year, international pressure mounts to resolve the deadlock. For now, Gaza’s most vulnerable—children and pregnant women—bear the brunt of a crisis the WHO calls "entirely preventable." 💔
