Japan Protests Erupt Over PM’s Taiwan Remarks 🇯🇵✊

Hundreds of protesters flooded Tokyo’s streets Friday evening, demanding Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi retract her controversial remarks about the Taiwan region. This marks the third major demonstration since November 21, with tensions escalating over concerns about Japan-China relations and historical sensitivities.

🔥 Why the outrage? At a November 7 Diet meeting, Takaichi suggested the Chinese mainland’s actions toward Taiwan could threaten Japan’s survival—a statement critics call reckless. Protesters held signs like "Takaichi resign" and "Never repeat past mistakes", while one demonstrator’s cartoon depicted her shaking hands with a "specter of militarism."

🗣️ Voices from the crowd: Protester Tomoko told reporters, "Japan-China relations are freezing—and it’s all on Takaichi." Another, Sakamaki, warned the PM’s refusal to apologize risks "pushing us toward disaster."

📰 Media backlash: Major newspapers like Mainichi Shimbun and Asahi Shimbun recently slammed Takaichi’s "zero remorse" stance. Analysts say the protests reflect growing public anxiety about regional stability as cross-strait tensions simmer.
