Museveni Secures Sixth Term in Uganda’s 2026 Election 🗳️🇺🇬

Uganda's political landscape remains unchanged as veteran leader Yoweri Museveni clinched his sixth presidential term with a decisive 71.6% victory, announced Saturday by election officials. The 81-year-old leader, in power since 1986, outperformed pop-star-turned-opposition figure Robert Kyagulanyi who secured 24.7% of votes.

Youth vs Experience Showdown

Kyagulanyi, 44, brought TikTok energy to the campaign trail with his 'People Power' movement, mobilizing Uganda's youth-dominated electorate. Despite his viral appeal, official results show traditional political machinery still dominates.

Election Under Watch

The vote proceeded without major incidents despite heavy security presence, according to the Electoral Commission. Six other candidates split the remaining votes, with none breaking 2% support.
