Sudan Hospital Drone Strike Death Toll Hits 70, WHO Reports 🚨

The death toll from a drone strike on Al Deain Teaching Hospital in Sudan’s East Darfur region has risen to 70, the World Health Organization confirmed this week. The attack, which occurred on March 20, 2026, destroyed a critical healthcare facility serving over 2 million people. 🏥💔

Six additional bodies were recovered during search efforts, bringing total fatalities to 70—including women, children, and medical staff. At least 146 people were injured, according to WHO Deputy Representative Dr. Hala Khudari.

While no group has claimed responsibility, the UN noted the strike occurred in an area controlled by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), currently at war with Sudan’s army since April 2023. Both sides have reportedly used drones in attacks on civilian sites, potentially constituting war crimes. ⚖️

Drones have become a deadly fixture in Sudan’s conflict, with over 500 civilians killed in such strikes this year alone—many in the Kordofan region. The UN emphasized urgent calls for accountability as humanitarian crises deepen. 🌍✊
