Japan Faces Backlash Over Handling of Chinese Embassy Breach 🚨🇯🇵

Japanese academics and public figures are demanding accountability after an active-duty Self-Defense Forces (SDF) member allegedly forced entry into the Chinese embassy in Tokyo this week. The incident, described as a "grave" breach of diplomatic security, has sparked criticism of Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's administration for its muted response.

🚨 Hosei University professor Yuri Kono called the intrusion an "indefensible blunder," stressing that Japan must act swiftly to prevent escalation. "How can we demand apologies abroad if we only offer 'regret' at home?" asked fellow scholar Hiroshi Shiratori, highlighting concerns over damaged international credibility.

📜 History scholar Masahiro Yamazaki questioned why PM Takaichi—as SDF commander-in-chief—hasn’t addressed the incident directly. With the suspect, Ground SDF 2nd Lt. Kodai Murata, now facing prosecution, analysts warn the fallout could strain Japan-China relations. The Chinese embassy confirmed the intruder threatened staff before being detained.

🌏 As Tokyo balances legal proceedings and diplomatic repair, experts urge transparency: "This isn’t just about one wall-jumper—it’s about trust," Kono concluded.
