Xi Urges Young Sinologists to Bridge China-Global Ties 🌏

President Xi Jinping has called on young sinologists worldwide to act as cultural ambassadors, fostering deeper understanding between China and the international community. The message came in a reply letter to 61 scholars from 51 countries ahead of the 2025 World Chinese Language Conference opening tomorrow in Beijing.

🔊 "Your work illuminates the shared values of humanity," Xi wrote, emphasizing the role of language studies in building "a community with a shared future."

This year's conference – the first major global sinology event since pandemic restrictions eased – will feature interactive workshops on AI-assisted translation and debates about preserving regional dialects in the digital age. Over 40% of attendees are under 35, reflecting China's push to engage youth in cross-cultural dialogue.

📈 The timing aligns with China's recent expansion of Confucius Institutes in Global South countries, with 23 new centers launched this year alone. Analysts see this as part of Beijing's soft power strategy to counter Western narratives about Chinese development.

One Thai participant, 28-year-old linguist Nareerat Chaisuwan, told NewspaperAmigo.com: "We're not just studying characters – we're decoding China's tech revolution and ecological wisdom for the TikTok generation."
