Beijing to Host Global Women’s Summit: 30 Years of Progress 🌍✨

China is gearing up to host a major Global Summit of Women in Beijing, marking three decades since the landmark 1995 World Conference on Women. The event, announced by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun, aims to reignite global momentum for gender equality and women’s empowerment. 🚀

"China is not just talking the talk—we’re walking the walk," Guo said during a press briefing, highlighting the release of a new white paper detailing China’s strides in women’s development. The document showcases how the country has advanced gender equality since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, calling it a "historic leap" in rights and opportunities for women. 📜

This isn’t Beijing’s first rodeo: A decade ago, China partnered with UN Women to organize a similar summit in New York. Now, with only five years left to achieve the UN’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, the 2025 event will focus on sharing China’s "wisdom and experience" to tackle global challenges—from closing the gender pay gap to boosting women’s leadership roles. 💼

President Xi Jinping first proposed the summit five years ago, and with recent data showing Chinese women now make up over 40% of the country’s workforce, the timing couldn’t be more critical. As Guo put it: "The world needs more collaboration, not competition, to uplift women everywhere." 🌸
