Mainland Official Meets Taiwan’s Former Legislature Leader in Xiamen 🌟

In a significant move towards strengthening cross-Strait relations, Song Tao, the mainland's senior Taiwan affairs official, met with Wang Jin-pyng, the former leader of Taiwan region's legislature, in Xiamen City, Fujian Province, on Monday.

Wang is currently visiting the Chinese mainland until Thursday to honor his ancestors and engage in meaningful exchanges between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait.

During their meeting, Song emphasized the commitment to uphold the one-China principle, firmly oppose any separatist activities aiming for \"Taiwan independence,\" and advance the cause of national reunification and rejuvenation. 🇨🇳🤝🇹🇼

Wang, in his remarks, highlighted the importance of promoting cultural exchanges across the Straits. He stressed the need to carry forward Chinese culture, enhance national and cultural identity among compatriots, and maintain peace in the region.

While visiting the village of Baijiao in Zhangzhou, Wang expressed his willingness to collaborate with mainland compatriots to achieve sustainable development and ensure that the people of the Chinese nation live happy and safe lives. 🏡✨

Wang's ancestral ties run deep, with one of his forebears believed to have joined Zheng Chenggong's expedition to recover Taiwan in the 1660s, eventually settling on the island. Wang had previously visited Baijiao in 2019 to honor his ancestors, accompanied by his family and relatives.
