Chinese Mainland Boosts Battle Against Cross-Border Telecom Fraud 🌐🔒

The Chinese mainland's prosecution and public security authorities are stepping up their efforts to combat cross-border telecom fraud, the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) announced on Sunday. 🚀

This initiative builds on the ongoing collaboration between the SPP and the Ministry of Public Security, which have overseen 13 significant cross-border telecom fraud cases since 2022. 🕵️‍♂️

Eight major cases from provinces like Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Fujian have been placed under joint oversight. These cases involve a range of criminal activities, including recruiting individuals within the Chinese mainland and trafficking them abroad for fraudulent schemes, as well as serious violent crimes such as unlawful detention and intentional injury. ⚖️🔍

From January to October 2024, enhanced asset recovery and fraud prevention measures have led to the freezing of 235.9 billion yuan ($32.83 billion) in defrauded funds, safeguarding the public from significant financial losses. 💰🔒

The authorities remain committed to intensifying their efforts to track down and prosecute telecom fraud criminals, ensuring the protection of the public's legitimate rights and the defense of lives and properties. 🛡️👥
