The Mount Qomolangma scenic area has been closed until further notice following a powerful magnitude-6.8 earthquake that struck Dingri County in the Xizang Autonomous Region on Tuesday morning, according to local authorities.
Dingri is home to the base camp of Mount Qomolangma, the world's highest peak. The earthquake has caused significant devastation, with fifty-three people confirmed dead and sixty-two injured, as reported by the regional disaster relief headquarters.
