Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) just added a high-speed chapter to its partnership with China! The newly opened Pocitelj-Zvirovici highway section – built by Chinese and Azerbaijani firms – is part of the pan-European Corridor Vc. Stretching 11 km and featuring the nearly 1 km-long Hercegovina Bridge, this project is a literal 🛣️ bridge between nations.
Why It Matters
Once fully complete, this route will supercharge Central/Eastern Europe’s economy, moving people and goods faster than ever. Zeljka Cvijanovic, BiH’s presidency chairwoman, called it a “model of friendly cooperation” during a ceremony welcoming China’s new ambassador, Li Fan.
Beyond Concrete
2024 marks 30 years of China-BiH diplomatic relations! 🤝 Both nations have prioritized mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity while expanding collaborations in education, tourism, and trade. As Cvijanovic put it: this partnership is paving roads – both physical and cultural – for generations.
