Heavy Rains Hit the Chinese Mainland: Provinces on High Alert! 🌧️⚠️

Hold onto your umbrellas! ☔ The Chinese mainland is currently dealing with some pretty intense weather as heavy rains lash multiple provinces, leaving authorities on high alert. From the south to the southwest and central regions, the rain hasn't let up, triggering emergency responses to keep people safe. 🌧️

Hainan Feeling the Rain! 🌊

In Hainan Province, strong southerly air currents have brought persistent downpours. Some areas in the southeast and north have seen absolute deluges, with some townships recording over 300 mm of rainfall! 😱 Because of this, local disaster prevention authorities bumped up the emergency response for floods and storms from Level IV to Level III. For those wondering, the Chinese mainland uses a four-tier system, where Level I is the most severe.

Geological disaster warnings are also in place, with areas like Sanya and Wuzhishan under alert. The meteorological department anticipates that the heavy rain will persist, so residents are staying vigilant. 🚩

Tough Times in Guizhou 🏔️

The situation in southwest China's Guizhou Province has been even more critical. With rainfall exceeding 250 mm in some spots, Guiding County experienced severe flooding and landslides. Heartbreakingly, as of Tuesday afternoon, four people have died and five others are still missing. 💔

Authorities have activated Level III alerts for the Qiandongnan, Qiannan, and Qianxinan prefectures. Experts warn that severe convective weather will likely persist through Thursday, meaning the risk of landslides remains high. Local teams are working hard to monitor water levels and evacuate people from high-risk zones as quickly as possible. 🚨

Hunan on Guard 🛡️

It's not just the south and southwest; central China is feeling it too. Hunan Province has activated a Level IV emergency response for geological disasters. Between the widespread impact and the massive amount of accumulated rain from recent downpours, the risk of landslides is simply too high to ignore.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by these storms. Stay safe and stay dry out there! 🌍✨
