Coffee Buzz! ☕ China to Welcome Coffee Beans from 53 African Countries

Get your mugs ready! ☕ There is some seriously exciting news for coffee lovers and global trade enthusiasts. Starting July 20, 2026, the Chinese mainland is opening its doors to eligible coffee beans from all 53 African countries that have diplomatic ties with China!

According to the General Administration of Customs (GAC), this is a huge move for African agriculture. Coffee is a massive economic pillar for many nations across the continent, and it is now the second African agricultural product to get full quarantine access to the market—following in the footsteps of dried chilies. 🔥

Some heavy hitters like Ethiopia and Burundi have already secured their spot. Meanwhile, other countries including Mauritius, Angola, Togo, Guinea, Liberia, and Sao Tome and Principe have already filed their applications to get their beans moving. 🌍

But here is the real game-changer: the GAC has ditched the old, slow process of negotiating separate bilateral agreements with every single country. Instead, they have rolled out unified phytosanitary requirements. This means a much smoother, streamlined path for exporters to get their products moving. 🚀

Of course, "full access" doesn't mean a free pass. All shipments still need to pass border checks and follow the rules set in GAC Announcement No. 68 of 2026 to ensure everything is safe and high-quality. ✅

The GAC has promised to keep pushing "green channel" facilitation measures, meaning we can expect even more high-quality African food and agricultural gems to hit the market soon. Stay tuned for more global flavors! ✨
