Taman Safari Indonesia (TSI) officially introduced Rio, the very first giant panda cub born in the country, to the public this past Saturday in Bogor, south of Jakarta. After months of anticipation, the little guy is finally ready for his close-up!
The Ultimate Glow-Up ✨
Rio's journey has been nothing short of a miracle. Born on November 27, 2025, he started his life weighing just 200 grams—basically the size of a small apple! Fast forward to today, and at 184 days old, Rio has leveled up to a healthy 11-kilogram bundle of energy.
So, what is Rio up to these days? According to the experts, he is now walking independently, interacting actively with his mom, Hu Chun, and has even started snacking on bamboo shoots. Talk about a healthy appetite! 🎋
Science and Care Behind the Magic 🧪
This milestone was a huge team effort. TSI's Life Science and Veterinary teams worked hand-in-hand with specialists from the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda to make sure Rio hit all his physical and behavioral milestones before meeting the crowds.
Because his well-being is the top priority, TSI is keeping his public appearances gradual and controlled, following international animal welfare standards. We want Rio to stay happy and healthy while he gets used to his new fans! ❤️
