Uganda’s Morocco Trip Hits a Snag: Friendlies Cancelled! ⚽️🇺🇬

Imagine flying all the way to Morocco, getting the squad hyped, and then finding out your games are cancelled right before kickoff. That's exactly what happened to the Uganda Cranes this week! 😱

Head coach Paul Put is feeling majorly disappointed after the national team's two international friendly matches in Marrakesh were called off. The Cranes were all set to face Tanzania tomorrow, June 5, and Madagascar on June 8. However, the team had already touched down in Morocco when the news dropped on Wednesday evening.

So, what happened? According to a statement from the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), the matches were scrapped due to "sanitary and public health considerations" communicated by authorities through their match agents. 🧼🏥

For Coach Put, this isn't just a scheduling glitch—it's a huge setback. He had spent a long time coordinating with specific players to get them into the mix, and now he's left without the chance to test his strategies or build that essential team chemistry on the pitch.

"This is a big disappointment because I cannot test players," Put shared, emphasizing how crucial these matches were for assessing the squad's current form. 📉

With the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign kicking off this September, every minute of preparation counts. The Cranes will now have to find a new way to get game-ready before the real battle begins! 🌍⚽️✨
